Combat is governed by several distinct skill categories. Understanding how these interact—especially through the Action Slot—is vital for maximizing your combat efficiency.

These are standard abilities that function independently.
Usage: They can be assigned to your standard hotkeys (F1–F9) for immediate use.
Action Slot: If the skill does not have a cooldown, it can be placed in the Action Slot.
Restriction: General skills cannot be mixed with Chain Skills in the same Action Slot sequence.
Chain skills are designed to be performed in a specific sequence, similar to a martial arts combo. They are categorized by their position in the chain:

Function: These are independent "starters" used to begin a combo.
Placement: They must be placed at the very beginning of an Action Slot sequence to unlock follow-up moves.
Example: Clean Hit is the primary starter for Vagrants and can be used at any time to initiate a fight.

Function: These are "middle" or follow-up skills that bridge the gap between a starter and a finisher.
Usage: They are "locked" by default and can only be used within the Action Slot after a starting skill has landed.
Stacking: You can add as many circle skills as you want (up to the Action Slot limit) in a single sequence.
Example: Flurry is a Vagrant circle skill that can be repeated multiple times in one chain.

Function: These represent the final, powerful strike in a combo sequence.
Usage: Like circle skills, they only activate after a chain has begun.
Restriction: You may only have one finishing skill per sequence, and it must follow a starting or circle skill.
Example: Over Cut is the final blow in the Vagrant's basic chain.
The Action Slot (located at the bottom right of the HUD) allows you to automate these sequences by pressing the 'C' key. You can customize your slot using up to 6 skills in several ways:
