To begin combat, you must first designate a target. Click on a monster (Masquerpet) to select it; you will see four blue triangles and a arrow appear to indicate your focus.
Once a target is selected, you can engage in continuous combat using any of the following methods:
Click: Simply click the monster again.
Action Slot: Press 'O' to open your skills/actions, find the "Attack" icon, and drag it to your hotbar.
Keyboard Shortcut: Hold Ctrl and click the monster once.
Note on PvP: Auto-attacking other players is only possible during a Duel or while on the PK (Player Kill) Channel.
Your effectiveness in close-quarters combat is determined by your primary attributes. You can monitor these stats at any time by pressing 'H'.
Strength (STR): Increases damage for all melee weapons (Swords, Axes, Knuckles, Yo-yos.).
Dexterity (DEX): Increases damage for Bows.
Intelligence (INT): Increases damage for Wands.
Hit Rate: Determines your chance to land a blow. Higher DEX reduces the frequency of "Miss" messages.
Critical Hits: Landing a "Crit" deals significantly higher damage and has a small chance to knock back the monster, briefly interrupting its attacks.
Critical Chance: Boosted by DEX and specific gear. While 100% is the displayed cap, actual results may vary based on the enemy's level and stats.
ASPD determines how fast you swing your weapon. As you add DEX, you will reach certain thresholds known as "Speed Breaks." At these specific points, your character's animation speed will noticeably jump.
Every job class in Madrigal possesses a unique set of abilities to help you in combat. You can manage and view all your available abilities by pressing the "K" key to open the Skill Window.
Cooldowns: Many skills have a "cooldown" period after use. During this time, the skill icon will appear grayed out and cannot be used again until the timer resets.
Accuracy: Unlike standard melee swings, skills never miss and do not deal critical hits. They are also unaffected by your character's attack speed (ASPD).
Status Effects: Certain skills can apply debuffs to enemies, such as stunning them or causing temporary confusion.
Area of Effect (AoE): Some classes, specifically Knights, Rangers, Elementors, and Billposters, specialize in AoE attacks. This strategy involves gathering several monsters together (rounding them up) and defeating them simultaneously to greatly increase experience gains.
Located at the bottom right of your screen, the Action Slot is a specialized bar that allows you to chain multiple skills together.
How to Use: Drag your desired skills into the circles within the Action Slot. Press the "C" key to trigger the sequence. Your character will then perform the selected skills in chronological order.
The Advantage: Skills placed in the Action Slot generally cast faster than if you were to trigger them individually from a standard hotbar.
The Cooldown: After the full sequence finishes, the Action Slot will enter a 12-second cooldown. During this window, you cannot use the Action Slot again and must rely on your other hotbars. This cooldown remains the same whether you have one skill or six skills equipped in the slot.
The Function Bar provides quick access to your skills and items. You can drag any unlocked skill onto these bars for immediate use.
How to Activate Abilities:
Direct Targeting: Select a monster for offensive skills, or do not select anything for "self-buffs".
Activation: You can click the icon directly with your mouse or press the corresponding keyboard shortcut (e.g., Number keys, F1-F10, or Alt + Number).
Cost: Activating a skill typically consumes a specific amount of MP (Magic Points) or FP (Focus Points).
Modern Interface Layout: The interface features four primary bars:
Main Bar: Bound to keys 1 through 0.
Second Bar: Bound to Alt + 1 through 0.
Third Bar: Bound to the F-keys (F1 through F10).
Extra Bar: A floating bar that has no assigned hotkeys and requires manual mouse clicks to activate items or skills.
